Information and Official Rules
- NYHA Membership Required: All current owners must be New York Holstein members. Please note: You do not need to be a New York resident to be a New York Holstein member. Memberships may be paid online at nyholsteins.com.
- In order to show in the National Red and White Show you must be a member of the Red and White Dairy Cattle Association. Go to https://www.redandwhitecattle.com/ to join.
- The Northeast Summer National Holstein Show and National Red and White Show will be separate. R&W exhibitors have the option of showing in the Northeast Summer National but must enter both shows. The shows will alternate back and forth for each class starting with the National Red and White Show.
- Entries must be submitted through showman.app by August 20 at the regular fee of $50
- The Northeast Summer National Holstein Show and Red and White National Show are separate shows. You must enter both shows if you plan to show in both.
- There is not a separate Junior Show from the Open Show. Junior members must identify that they are a junior exhibitor while completing their entries. They will be recognized during the Open Show by stepping forward. Separate junior awards and champions will be awarded.
- Online Late entries are accepted until the close of check-in on Friday, September 5, 2025 at $75 per entry.
- Day of show entries may be made at $100 per entry
- There is no entry fee for group entries.
- Substitutions within and between classes (same owner) will be accepted, providing the exhibitor completes all appropriate changes on Showman.app.
- Showmanship is free but NY Jr. Holstein membership is required. Memberships shall be paid online at nyholsteins.com.
- Entry deadlines: All entries must be entered online by August 20 for acceptance at the regular entry fees. Late entries will be accepted until the close of check-in at noon on Friday. Day of show entries are available at $100 per entry.
- Health Requirements:
- All animals must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), issued within 30 days of arrival at the fairgrounds, signed by an accredited veterinarian, with animals individually identified.
- All current testing requirements and verification for Bovine Avian Influenza Virus PCR (or Influenza A Virus in Cattle) must be followed
- Rabies vaccination: All animals over 4 months of age on the day of arrival must have been vaccinated for rabies at least 14 days prior to arrival at the fairgrounds but no longer than the labeled time for active protection. The vaccination date and vaccine must be listed on the CVI
- Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex: All cattle must show proof of vaccination against the common bovine respiratory disease viruses (BVD, BRSV, IBR, PI) not less than 14 days or more than 90 days before the arrival at the fairgrounds. Intranasal vaccines against respiratory viruses are acceptable if given at least 3 days prior to the animals arrival at the fairgrounds and listed on the CVI.
- BVD-PI testing is required for all animals.
- All animals will be inspected for contagious conditions (warts, ringworm, lice, mange, respiratory infection, contagious hoof conditions, etc) and may be denied entry or sent home. The decision of the NYHA show management is final.
- All animals must have an RFID tag.
- Stall assignment requests are made through showman.app Stall assignments will be made by the NYHA staff. There will be no stall changes without approval from the NYHA staff.
- Cattle check-in: all cattle must be in place by Thursday at 6pm and checked in by Friday at 10 a.m.. To check in, bring your registration and health papers to the show office on Thursday (9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.) or Friday before 10 a.m.. Health checks will take place in the barns. No animal may be shown unless it has been officially checked in.
- Registration certificates and health papers must be available at check in and stay with the cattle. Signed transfers accompanied with the appropriate fee will be accepted. Junior transfers must have been completed by July 15. No pending registrations.
- Leaving: Cattle shown on Saturday will be allowed to leave at the conclusion of their show. All cattle must be off the grounds by 8 p.m. on Sunday.
- Sharps: You are responsible for your own sharps disposal. Do not put them in the bedding or garbage.
- Milk Disposal: The only approved area to dump milk is down the drain at the end of the wash rack. DO NOT dump anywhere else. The fair milking facilities will not be open during the show.
- Garbage: Dispose of any garbage in the cans provided. Be mindful that NO garbage may be disposed of in the manure. The manure is spread on the surrounding fields and can not have ANY garbage in it.
- Harness and Whites: All exhibitors must wear a harness or they will not be allowed in the show ring. All are encouraged to wear whites. Junior show shirts are not provided.
- Back Tag #’s: Animals must be accompanied to the show ring with their correct back tag ring number at ring check in. No exceptions.
- Hair Measure: Animals may not enter the holding area until hair is measured (World Dairy Expos hair ruler will be used) and the animal has been approved by the ring staff.
- Junior Show: Entries must be shown by the Junior owner. Request for Alternate Leadsperson form may be filled out and must be received by 5 pm the day before the show. Qualifying exceptions include more than one entry in a class, educational school, medical and family tragedy. If approved, another junior the same age or younger may show the animal. Adults are not allowed to show or be in the ring with the junior animal.
- Junior Showmanship: NYHA Junior membership is required. Juniors do not have to own or officially lease the animal they are showing for showmanship. The contest will be divided into different classes based on the age and number of contestants. The first two placings in each showmanship class will be eligible for Master Showman class.
- Partnership: Two or more junior exhibitors may own an animal in partnership if the animal is exhibited by the partnership. Adult-junior family partnerships are not allowed. Family or farm partnerships are not allowed unless all members are junior members and listed on the registration paper.
