Adult Membership Types as defined by Holstein Association USA
- Individual -- Any individual person may apply for membership. Death of that person terminates the membership.
- Partnership –Individuals and/or entities, who are associated together under a partnership agreement, may apply for partnership membership. Partnership memberships are available to members of an immediate family (such as husband and wife, or father and son) that are operating under the same farm, herd or breeding entity. Termination of the partnership terminates the partnership membership and requires transferring the partnership animals to new ownership.
- Corporation -- A corporation may apply for membership, and the names of its responsible officers must be disclosed. A copy of the certificate of incorporation must be available on request. If the corporation dissolves, the corporate membership terminates and requires transferring the corporation’s animals to new ownership. Transfers are not required when a corporate member is merged or consolidated into another corporation or when members of an immediate family organize into a corporation without the addition of unrelated stockholders. The Association needs to be notified when responsible officers change.
- Associate -- An individual with religious beliefs forbidding membership in an organization who may otherwise be eligible for membership may, with the payment of the regular individual membership fee, register and transfer animals at members' rates as an Associate breeder. Associate breeders are not otherwise regarded as members and are not eligible to vote, nominate or serve as delegates in the Association.
